The Quadrilemma of Authority

If you believe that you have the right to rule others, then you are a villain.

If you believe that others have the right to rule you, then you are a slave.

If you believe that you have the right to rule others, and others have the right to rule you, then you are a dimwit.

If you believe that there is no such thing as the right to rule, then you are a friend.

There is No Such Thing as "Your Government"

If you are a libertarian, don't use the phrase "my government", since it suggests that you belong to it (as in "my family"), that you are served by it (as in "my insurer"), that you own it (as in "my money"), or that you are owned by it (as in "my master"), neither of which is remotely true.

In other words, using this phrase obscures the fundamental fact that every government is a thoroughly foreign and hostile agent in relation to every free and freedom-respecting individual. Don't unwittingly use the language of your enemy, lest you unwittingly start to see the world the way he likes it.
