The Uneasy Hiatus of the Infantile Era

If present-day Western culture is neither robustly Christian, nor pagan, nor nihilistic, what is its primary defining characteristic? My suggestion is that it is infantilism. An infantile culture is one that is capable of subsisting on the civilizational capital accumulated in its preceding spiritually mature period while being devoid of the civilizational robustness that allows for replenishing, let alone expanding it. Thus, it is only by restoring its spiritual base that we can restore the maturity of our civilization, and it is only by restoring its maturity that we can save it from ultimate disappearance.
